A Week in San Diego
Starting last weekend, Pınar and I spent last week in San Diego shooting the Graphing Social Patterns West and ETech Conferences. Our home for the week was on the 14th floor of the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina on Harbor Drive with great views of the bay, pool, and marina.
For Pınar, the pool view was the most distracting as on any given day she'd rather be down there laying by the pool with an umbrella cocktail than inside a dark room. Even for myself, easily burnable white boy that I am, it was mighty tempting. We had to make do with some time on the days before and after the conferences to enjoy the poolside.
The last few nights we were in the hotel, we did manage to see beautiful sunsets. The best of these was on the very last night. The sunset started off innocently enough and wasn't terribly exciting. But then, for just a couple of minutes, some yellow blazed into the scene and just made the shot.
All of the shots above were taken with the Canon G9
which has remained close at hand since I acquired it earlier in the year. It's been creating some very nice images and can go places the big cameras can't go. It's not yet the perfect almost-pocketable camera, but it's a beaut.
