iPhone Live Conference
O’Reilly has a new conference in the works coming up this November called iPhone Live. It’s a one day event in San Jose for iPhone developers, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts. I’m sure the Apple NDA will get in the way of some things, but it’ll be interesting to see how it comes together and I hope we get to see some insight into what people are doing with the iPhone platform.
Continuing O’Reilly’s use of photography in their conference promotion materials, the website for the conference features two of my photos. The one on the left is a tight crop—and one of the very few licensed uses—of a photo I took at MacWorld when the iPhone was announced. It’s probably my most misused photograph out of the over 7000 images I’ve posted to Flickr. The photograph on the right is a crop of an audience shot from OSCON 2008.
And, as you might expect, I’m slated to be there on November 18th to shoot the conference. If you happen to be there, be sure to say hi. Maybe we can arrange a meet up in the bar of the hotel the night before or some such.
Update (10/23): O’Reilly has officially canceled (or postponed) the conference.

Hi Duncan! We had a brief chat in the queue to the last WWDC keynote in June; I'm now starting my own business based on the iPhone and our first action is organizing the first Swiss conference about the iPhone and related business, targeted towards decision makers and managers: http://www.iphone-conference.ch/ I hope you don't mind posting the link here :) I'd love to have you doing the photos! Any chance you come to Switzerland one of these days? Take care, Adrian

James,
How can people talk about the iPhone and development with Apple's NDA's hovering over the the developers heads?

Chris, that's an excellent question indeed. The iPhone live site has a bolded paragraph addressing exactly that, but it will be interesting to see how it works out in practice. One wonders how many discussions will run into brick walls. The saving grace is that the scope of conversations aren't just focused on development.
The Pragamatic Studio folks have run into this problem as well and have had to put their plans on indefinite hold. See http://blog.pragmaticstudio.com/2008/09/iphone-studio-update.html for more.

I'd love to come to Switzerland and stay for a while. So far, I've only managed to see the airport in Zurich. Unfortunately, I'm already loaded up for October and November...
